Everything You Need To Know About Our New Oil Control Range

Bothered by shiny skin, oversized pores, or never-ending breakouts? Today is your lucky day. Our new Oil Control range has arrived – ready to mop up your skin messes to reveal the clear, mattified, radiant complexion you've been craving.

Launching with a Clearing Cleanser and Face Mask, the range pairs exfoliating actives with soothing botanicals and prebiotics to reduce  oiliness, combat congestion, and support the skin barrier. Visibly reducing  pores, our anti-shine heroes are also your dream team to help fight those bothersome breakouts

Sound too good to be true? It's not – and this article will tell you why. To learn more about the Oil Control range and our new powerhouse ingredients, read on. We cover everything you need to know – including how to use each product for a beautifully balanced, clear, healthy-looking complexion.

Understanding oily skin and its causes

Oily skin is simply skin that produces an excess of sebum – the oily, waxy substance created by the sebaceous glands. Like dry skin, it’s a skin type that's largely genetic. So, you can square part of the blame with your parents if you’re keeping blotting paper companies in business.

However, other non-genetic factors can also supercharge sebum production. These include hormones (hello, adolescence), climate (hello, humidity), lifestyle and skincare habits like over-washing. While over-washing might seem the best way to combat oil, it can actually have the opposite effect and send the sebaceous glands into a frenzy. So, consider yourself warned – and stick with twice-daily cleansing with a gentle face wash formulated for oily skin

Oil is necessary – but too much can cause problems

While we all need some natural oil to lubricate the skin, support its barrier, and help prevent water loss, excess oil is another story. When the skin produces too much oil, your complexion can look shiny and greasy. Without a decent primer, makeup tends to slide off. Or magically  disappear after just a few hours.

Larger, more visible pores are also a major bugbear for those with oily skin. Too much oil can also clog pores and create the perfect breeding ground for blackheads and breakouts. This is even more of a problem when skin cell turnover is sluggish – as it often is in acne-prone skin.  Luckily, we tackle both excess oil and dead skin cells with our new Oil Control range. Alongside inflammation, redness, and skin barrier dysfunction.

How Oil Control Range helps fight breakouts

No band-aid solution, our Oil Control range doesn’t just fight shine – it promotes a clear, calm complexion by targeting the three main causes of acne. Firstly, the formula addresses congestion with deep pore-unclogging action – freeing blocked pores from breakout-inducing toxins and impurities. Next, it tackles excess oil – balancing sebum levels without over-drying the skin. Finally, it targets bad bacteria and promotes a healthy, balanced microbiome. Read on to learn about our amazing new ingredients!

So, what’s in the Oil Control range?

We’re launching the Oil Control range with two powerhouse products for oily skin: a daily cleanser and a targeted treatment mask – powered by exfoliating acids, prebiotics, and an all-new A-Beauty hero. Joining the ranks of detoxifying Australian Pink Clay, brightening Emu Apple, and hydrating Tasmanian Spring Water is Australian Old Man Weed. Prized by Indigenous communities for its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antimicrobial properties, this super-soothing ingredient helps to calm blemishes and reduce redness.

Now you’re acquainted with Old Man Weed, let’s take a closer look at our skincare for oily skin. Gentle and calming, the Clearing Cleanser removes makeup, oil, and impurities without stripping the skin. With salicylic acid and AHAs from Australian Finger Lime, the pH-balanced and fragrance-free wash will help smooth your skin, while targeting clogged pores. It’s also formulated with Australian Old Man Weed and Tasmanian Pepperberry to soothe, and prebiotics to support the barrier function for clear, healthy-looking skin.

Next up, is the nemesis of blemishes – our Clearing Face Mask. Targeting irritation, excess oil and enlarged pores, the purifying clay-based mask is powerful but non-drying. As AHAs from Australian Finger Lime gently exfoliate away dead skin cells, salicylic acid and Australian White Clay combat oil and clogged pores. Australian Old Man Weed soothes, aloe vera hydrates, and niacinamide and prebiotics support the skin barrier for a clearer complexion.

How to use the products

Our new cleanser and mask will fit easily into any existing routine. And they’re a great non-irritating alternative to any harsh or drying oil control products you might currently be using.

Daily

For oily, combination and breakout-prone skin types, our Oil Control Clearing Cleanser can be used twice daily, morning and night. Simply squeeze a small amount into your palm, lather with water to create a foam, and cleanse your face thoroughly to remove all traces of makeup, oil, and impurities. Pat your skin dry and follow with your favourite serum – try our Dreamy Glow Drops for instant radiance, or the Tasmanian Spring Water Splash Serum for deep hydration.

Then don’t forget to lock in the goodness with a moisturiser. Try our Tasmanian Spring Water Hydration Boost Cream for those days you need hydration. Or for extra-oily skin, follow with an oil-control moisturiser.

Up to 3 times weekly

For extra mattifying, anti-congestion power, use our Clearing Face Mask after cleansing. Apply in a thin layer to clean, dry skin using the applicator brush. Avoid the eye area. Leave on for 5 to 10 minutes, then rinse, pat dry and follow with a moisturiser. For oily to combination skin, use 2-3 times weekly. Or for dry skin, use 1-2 times per week.

Pro-tip: As the mask contains chemical exfoliants, don’t use it on the same day as your regular exfoliator.

The payoff

The result? Clear, balanced, healthy skin after 4 weeks.
